Material: in-person awareness training for managers

Managers serve as role models within the organization and are responsible for information security risks within their team or department.

This material has been created to facilitate a dialogue about awareness during a one-hour in-person session with managers. You can lead this interactive session yourself.

• The speaker notes in the PowerPoint file will help you prepare for the training.

The material may be used and adapted freely, for example to match the house style of your institution.

During the session, managers are presented with one or more cases in which they play a role as managers. The Shadow IT case is fully elaborated as an example. Participants discuss the pros and cons they see in this situation and discuss how they would act if this situation arose in their team.

The presentation concludes with a short quiz (you can also add the questions to your own quiz system). We have used the five points from the Digital Certificate as an example: these can be replaced by the awareness points that form the core of your institution's awareness program.
